I recently stayed at the Admiral Inn in Hamilton and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The food was also excellent — fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. Overall, it was a great stay, and I’d definitely recommend the Admiral Inn to anyone visiting Hamilton
I recently visited the restaurant for dine in with my work colleagues and it was wonderful. The server Krystle was so loving and helpful with the menu. Schnitzel was delicious

I recently stayed at The Admiral in Hamilton for a couple nights while visiting family on Halloween,October,31st. until Nov. 2nd. It only took moments to feel welcome as I walked in with friendly security at the door. I enjoyed meeting David at the front desk , he was friendly and courteous. We ended up talking often as I went through the lobby, in and out of the hotel a few times a day. He cracked up when he seen my Halloween costume, we had a good laugh. Then he introduced me to Linda the server in the dining room. She was very attentative as my daughter and I enjoyed daily breakfast . Next was the cook Cheryl. I hope that's how her name is spelled. She is a super lady. We all hit it off very well. It was like staying a family hotel. In fact Cheryl bought my breakfast on Nov.1st.as I was celebrating my 65th.birthday and Linda bought me and my daughters coffee. That was a kind gesture. We all shared lots of laughs and I felt bad having to leave . I will return as it will be my "go to place" when visiting family. The room was clean, the dining room clean and felt secure there. Dundrum Castle is directly across the road, which we toured. I guess it would be classified as a regular type of hotel in most eyes but the staff made it top notch in my eyes. So thank you to everyone I met for your kindness. In just 3 days and 2 nights you can see I shared alot of personal interventions with friendly staff. So until we meet again... A great Restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Pleasant Staff and great menu. We were there for great breakfast, good service. Like to go here for the best Schnitzel in Hamilton and Area. Right across from Dundurn Castle, Best kept secret in Hamilton. Parking around back and some at front of building too. Very clean with table clothes on the tables for breakfast lunch and supper.
Basic stay, works if you’re solo — needs some maintenance and upgrades I stayed at Admiral Inn Hamilton (149 Dundurn St N) overnight (14 Sep 2025) and this is my honest take: What worked fairly well • The hotel offers ample parking, which is a big plus if you arrive by car. • The rooms had almost everything you need for a comfortable stay — microwave, internet access, TV, and basic amenities were all provided.  • Staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. • The location is convenient, and for a budget-minded traveler, the price was reasonable and value acceptable. What could be better • The overall vibe of the building felt dated. The lift still worked, but it’s clearly old and little noisy. • The carpet in the hallway/gallery between rooms felt unclean and there was a persistent damp / musty smell in common areas. That definitely needs attention for hygiene and guest comfort. • For a family stay (with kids or a partner), I would think twice — given the dated feel, and smell, it’s more suited if you’re traveling alone or with friends rather than expecting a cozy, family-friendly stay. • Service was OK. could be improved to match even modest expectations. Final thoughts Admiral Inn Hamilton isn’t fancy. It’s simple and budget-oriented. If you need a cheap stop-over, don’t have grand expectations and are traveling solo or with friends, it’s “good enough.” But if you’re looking for standards, quiet comfort, or travelling with family you may want to consider other options.
This place is amazing! Rooms are clean and staff are awesome! Highly recommend!!
